Bandit Clash in Katsina: Key Gang Leaders Eliminated

On Monday, December 17, 2024, prayer sessions were held across Dutsinma, Tsaskiya, Zakka, Ummadau, and other villages in Katsina State. Residents fervently sought divine intervention to end the persistent attacks by bandits terrorizing the region. Encouragingly, reports indicate that their prayers may be yielding results.
On the morning of Tuesday, December 18, 2024, at approximately 5:58 AM, a fierce clash erupted among groups of bandits in the Ummadau area. The confrontation led to numerous casualties and significant loss of property.
This violent encounter occurred between two notorious bandit groups, including one led by Usman Modi-Modi, and a rival faction known as the “Yan Kambari.” The attack targeted the residence of a local resident named Harisu, culminating in the elimination of several infamous gang leaders known for their criminal activities.
Katsina Times confirmed the death of the following notorious bandit leaders, Nasiru Bosho: A key figure in charge of weaponry for Usman Modi-Modi. He was killed during the clash. Nasiru had long operated out of the Dogon Marke camp, causing havoc across the region.
Bala Yatsa, A feared and ruthless bandit. Bala, who previously assassinated Usman Modi-Modi months ago, sparking violent disputes among the bandits, also met his end in the fight.
Audu Mankare, Although still alive at the time of this report, he sustained critical gunshot injuries to his chest. Medical experts have expressed doubts about his chances of survival.
In the aftermath of the confrontation, a large number of cattle stolen by the bandits were recovered, marking a significant victory for the affected communities, who have long suffered the loss of their livestock.
However, the bandits have issued warnings to residents of Kwayawa and Yar Kwana villages, urging them to remain indoors or face severe consequences. Despite this, the internal conflicts among the bandits have significantly reduced the fear they once instilled in the population.
This recent development highlights the diminishing strength of the bandits, as infighting continues to undermine their leadership and terror operations in the region.
